Jon Kohen combines his finger-picking acoustic guitar style and soft, intimate vocal delivery with subtle electronic drones, beats, and samples to create an immersive and personal musical atmosphere for listeners. He lives in Lowell, MA.

Dead Reckoning is a mixture of acoustic guitar and soft vocals, combined with electronic beats, drones, and samples. This album is Jon Kohen's debut full-length as a songwriter. Despite the use of electronic music, the album has a 1940s theme. Before the regular use of computers, dead reckoning was a common navigation technique that was used by pilots and sailors to calculate their location based on where they came from and how fast they were going. The inclusion of Morse code in many of the songs on the album adds a new layer of poetic expression, with transmissions augmenting, and sometimes contradicting the messages of the sang lyrics.
